With Color A, cast on 35 stitches using your favorite cast on method.
With Color A, knit four rows (garter stitch edge).
Row 1 (RS): With Color A, K5, [(k1-yo-k1) in next st, k3] rep bet brackets to last 6 st, (k1-yo-k1), k5
Row 2 (WS): With Color B, K3, p2, [sl3wyif, p3] rep bet brackets to last 8 st, sl3wyif, p2, k3
Row 3 (RS): With Color B, K4, [k2tog, sl1wyib, ssk, k1] repeat between brackets to last 3 st, k3
Row 4 (WS): With Color A, K3, p4, [sl1wyif, p3] rep bet brackets to last 4 st, p1, k3
Row 5 (RS): With Color A, K7, [(k1-yo-k1) in next st, k3] rep bet brackets to last 4 st, k4
Row 6 (WS): With Color B, K3, p4, [sl3wyif, p3] rep bet brackets to last last 4 st, p1, k3
Row 7 (RS): With Color B, K6, [k2tog, sl1wyib, ssk, k1] rep bet brackets to last 5 st, p2, k3
Row 8 (WS): With Color A, K3, p2 [sl1wyif, p3] rep bet brackets to last 6 st, sl1wyif, p2, k3
Repeat rows 1-8 until swatch measures 4.5/11.25 cm.
Knit four rows (garter stitch edge).
Bind off on the next row in knit.
Wet block your swatch and pin flat until dry.
