A simple, rhythmic stitch pattern that creates an evenly textured fabric. It’s perfect for garments, but would be equally nice for a scarf or shawl.
Cast on 34 stitches using your preferred cast on method.
Knit four rows (garter stitch edge).
Set-Up Row 1 (RS): Knit
Set-Up Row 2 (WS): Purl
Pattern Row: K3, p1, [yo, p2tog] rep bet brackets to last 4 st, p1, k3
Repeat the pattern row (on both the right side and the wrong side) until swatch measures 4.5”.
Knit four rows (garter stitch edge). Bind off on the next row in knit.
Wet block your swatch and pin flat until dry.

yo – yarn over (increase one stitch)

p2tog – purl two stitches together (decrease one stitch)
